This page looks at the requirements for industrial levels of control, as well as existing controllers available.
Barriers to Uptake
We started the following thread to investigate the barriers to uptake for an open controller in the industrial controls community.
https://hvac-talk.com/vbb/threads/2243548-Views-on-Node-RED-Open-Source-HVAC-Controller
We have learned a lot from the conversation.
- Long term reliability, including software patches
- Long term availability
- Support
- Local availability of spares
- Scalability
- Remote administration and managed fleet updating
- Simplicity = inherent reliability and less energy consumption
Naturally approvals are a must for any application environment.
