Inkscape is a free graphics design package based on the SVG graphics format.

We use Inkscape for the following reasons:

• It is a very advanced package capable of drawing anything
• It's SVG file format is the web standard for vector graphics and for use on the web
• Graphics are vector based, so can be zoomed without loss of resolution
• Graphics elements can be manipulated as elements in a webpage
• Inkscape can import almost anything, including PDFs, and export almost any file type
• It can be extended with plugins
